All Birth is Birth: Why Pregnancy Yoga Should Support Every Experience
When we talk about birth, it’s easy for the conversation to lean one way: the unmedicated, spontaneous, serene water birth. And while that can be a beautiful experience, it’s far from the only one.
Birth is not one-size-fits-all. Sometimes it’s quick, sometimes long. Sometimes there are interventions. Sometimes the plan changes completely. And sometimes, what actually happens feels nothing like what you imagined.
That’s why, in my pregnancy yoga classes, we prepare for all of it.
Because birth isn’t about sticking to a script.
It’s about staying connected to yourself, your breath, your body, and your baby, no matter what.
Let’s shift the language: Birth Plans → Birth Preferences
We often hear the phrase “birth plan” and while planning can be empowering, it can also feel rigid. Like there’s only one right way.
But the truth is, births rarely go exactly to plan.
That’s why I invite people to think in terms of birth preferences. We explore what matters most to you:
How do you want to feel?
What comforts and tools would help?
How do you want to be supported if things change?
In class, we talk about Plan A, but we also talk about B, C, and D. Because being informed and flexible is a kind of strength too.

All birth is birth.
Whether you give birth via:
Planned C-section
Induction
Epidural-supported vaginal birth
Emergency interventions
Home water birth with fairy lights and candles
You are not more or less strong.
You didn’t fail. You adapted. And that’s powerful.
My inclusive pregnancy yoga is designed to support every birth journey—not just one kind.
Why yoga?
Pregnancy yoga isn’t about touching your toes. It’s about:
Learning to breathe through change
Connecting with your body, however it’s feeling today
Building tools for birth and for recovery
Creating space to feel calm, confident, and supported
This space is judgment-free, inclusive, and honest. We don’t sugar-coat things—but we also don’t catastrophise. We talk real birth, real bodies, and real experiences.
